Model 11-835 semi enclosed car transporters

In the 19th Century, Finland was a part of the Russian Czarist Empire, and the railways of Finland were laid out to the Russian 5 foot (1524mm) broad gauge.  The railways are still closely interconnected, and Russian stock works in and out of Finland. Jouni Rautiainen took these photos of Russian wagons in Finland, and sent them for inclusion on the site.

9275606-3 is a 15 ton bogie car carrier, with ribbed/mesh sides, and end doors, and is to

diagram (model) 11-835. What is interesting about this photo is that most views of these wagons show them operating in rakes, but Jouni has photographed an individual vehicle.

I have included this shot of a model from Jouni’s Feniks range for several reasons. First of all it gives an excellent birds eye view of the diagram 11-835 car carrier showing the roof very well, and the intermediate level car deck for these double decker car transporter wagons. Secondly it shows what can be achieved in HO scale, and it is a useful reminder that these wagons are available via Chris White at Red Star Railways.
