VIDEO DATABASE
Video can
sometimes provide additional information over what is available from books, but
is especially useful for getting the feel of the rail system and for
incidentals. As a Video Producer, (Hillsidefilms) I cannot comment on our own
products, but I can say that there are many excellent videos from a wide
variety of sources. Some are available on PAL/NTSC. Others only seem to be
available on one format or the other.

Railfilms
- Baltic Coast Express - produced c1991 at the time the Baltic States were about to
break away from the Soviet Union. The accent is heavily on the Baltic Coast
steam steam railtour, with some excellent run pasts. About half the film is in
Poland, and the balance in the Baltic States ending up in Leningrad, where an
OV makes a genteel run past.

was (I think) an episode in a TV series entitled Russia: The Missing
Years. Excellent archival footage from 1900-on; I'm frustrated that
I've not found an NTSC source or contact. Robert Hendry - Yes, it
is from the Missing Years series. Outstanding film from formerly closed Soviet
archives with very good material from the Stalinist period

the 80th anniversary celebration of Latvian Railways, focusing on steam fan

famous Pennsylvania State University railfan group shows
through. Report from Chris White (Red Star Railways)

I'm sure
somebody in the UK also distributes NTSC copies of Dave Goodheart's video.
