Lord of the Seas   The Vikings worshipped Odin, and gloried in battle, and brought fire and pillage to the British Isles.  Nowhere was their impact more marked than in the Isle of Man, which became a Viking state. For the Festival of the Sea at Peel, a group of amateur boat builders created a replica Viking ship in 4 days, sailed it in the Irish Sea, and said farewell in the fiery Viking SALUTE to a fallen chieftain. Visit the Viking’s ancient homeland, explore Viking traditions, learn of King Orry, and see the team race against the clock to create a sea going Longship in less than 100 hours. See her proudly sail out into the restless grey waters of the Irish Sea, learn of the Viking belief in Odin, and of Valhalla, and watch the poignant moment as this graceful ship erupts into flames.      50 Mins £14.95

New Rails for Man By the 1990s, the track of the 15.5 mile steam railway between Douglas and Port Erin was giving cause for serious concern. At the same time, the Island’s Victorian sewage system was in need of overhaul, and in an imaginative deal with the railways, the sewage mains were laid beneath the railway line, saving much disruption to road users, in return for which the railway received over 12 miles of brand new track. This important video provides a unique “Behind the Scenes” access to the 2002-2004 relay of 80% of the trackwork, and includes lifting scenes, a footplate ride on the  Contractors loco, the track laying machine at work, trials of the new IMR Ballast Tamper, and trains running on old and new track                 46 mins £14.95
