Our range
of Colour and historic Mono (Black and White) photo sets, covering bus, tramway,
metro, railway, and shipping subjects, consists of over 140 different
selections, and to meet popular request, NEW PRINT SETS are regularly
released. Each set has a balanced
coverage of the subject and where more than one set exists on a topic, the sets
complement one another to build up into a detailed coverage. To give a couple
of examples; Our six colour sets covering Midland Red, otherwise the Birmingham
& Midland Motor Omnibus Co, create a detailed portrait of this legendary
operator, whilst three Black and White sets look at the Cavan & Leitrim
Railway, one of Ireland’s best known narrow gauge lines which closed almost
half a century ago. Even more remote is
our set of ten views portraying the Southwold Railway which closed in 1929,
whilst a newly released set covers the British Indian Steam Navigation Co and
other shipping lines in India at the start of the 1920s.
Purchasing
archive prints is nowadays an expensive pastime, because of handling and postal
costs, and some of the archives that used to supply prints have ceased to do so
because of the high cost of servicing orders. Our Prints are sold in
sets of ten to keep the handling and processing costs down, so
that we can offer them at an attractive price to our customers. They are to the
popular 6 x 4 ins (150 x 100mm) size.
Larger format
views are available to special order, but the
price is higher, as they have to be produced on a one-off basis, and cost us a
great deal more.
Except
where specifically noted, (e.g. ABERDEEN CORPORATION – 12 views) each set
consists of TEN views, which make up an interesting portrait of the subject
covered.
Our photo
sets are divided up into Railways, Shipping, and Bus/Tram sections. Click on
the appropriate link to go to the section you are interested in. A specimen
photo heads the page, followed by a list of photo sets. Each set is accompanied
by a detailed write up. We regret that
we are unable to email individual scans of specific views to customers, as this
involves disproportionate time on line, and also opens us up to the possibility
of improper use. We regularly place photo sets on E-bay, and you are most
welcome to check our feedback to see the levels of customer satisfaction. Part of the pleasure of operating our photo
service has been the level of really nice comments we have received.
Our lists
are regularly extended, as new print sets are added.
From the
late 1970s, we used to produce 35mm Colour Transparency sets, but sadly this is
no longer economic. We still have a limited stock of Colour slide sets on
buses, shipping, railways and the IOM TT Races, etc, but these will not be
replaced when stocks are exhausted. If you are a slide collector, why not click
