Troika Boxes
The Russian 3-horse sleigh or “Troika”
often features in Russian folk stories, and the vision of a decorated Troika with
its bells jingling as it glides through the snow is an ever popular part of
Russian tradition. It is as popular as
the Skazka or Fairy story motif. It is
to be found on the square Palekh box, but is also suited to a much elongated
version.
