Lacquered metal trays were produced from Czarist days, floral designs being customary.

Each tray is hand-painted and then lacquered, and is frequently signed by the artist. Known as Podnossie in Russian (or Pidnossie in Ukrainian), trays vary in size from small and purely decorative items, to very large carrying trays, but who could bear to risk scratching such a wonderful piece of art !
